22 Dec Willo Luminarias
lu·mi·nar·i·a (lo͞oməˈnerēə) noun – “a Christmas lantern consisting of a votive candle set in a small paper bag weighted with sand and typically placed with others along sidewalks.” Each December for three consecutive nights before Christmas, 44 blocks of Willo have 11,000 paper bags, filled with 33,000 candles and “tons” of sand. It’s a quite the experience to stroll through the neighborhood at night while taking in the holiday lights. It’s also a great opportunity to randomly meet neighbors from other streets.
